Access iTunes Library on your Chromebook

Step #1: Install the Google Play Music App on the Chromebook

Before we proceed to get the Play Music app install it on your Chromebook. Here’s how to do that:

  1. Navigate to your Chrome browser.
  2. Click on the Add to Chrome button and install the Play Music App.
  3. When it is prompted, select the option of “Add App”.
  4. After a couple of minutes, the app will be successfully installed on your Chromebook. You will get to know about it via a confirmation dialog box in the bottom right corner of your screen.

Step #2: Activate the Play Music app on the Chromebook

Now that you have installed the Google Play Music app on your Chromebook, you need to activate it. For doing this, follow the simple steps given below carefully:

  1. Open the web interface of Google Play Music in a new tab in Chromebook.
  2. On the upper left corner of the currently opened window, click on the menu button. It is shown by horizontal lines.
  3. A drop-down menu will appear on the screen. From there, select the option of “Upload Music”.
  4. Now you will see a new page will be loaded on the screen. It will be displayed under “Listen to your iTunes Music with Play Music App”. On that screen click on the “Next” button.
  5. Now you will be asked to enter your card in the form of payment option so as to confirm your residential country. Don’t worry about this! If you follow all the steps carefully, you won’t be charged. Now click on the option of “Add Card”.
  6. As soon as you provide valid card details, a new window will pop-up on your screen. It will represent a total bill of $0.00 labeled by “Google Play Music Activation”. In case you have filled the card details before on Play Store for purchasing something, this window won’t appear. And you will be directly jumped to the next window.
  7. Now here, click on the “Activate” button when it is ready to be clicked.
  8. Now you will be asked to select your preferences for tracks. This is an optional step, you may skip this. When completed, click on “Next”.
  9. Now you will be asked to select the preferences for artists. This is an optional step too. Once you have completed setting up your preferences, click on the “Finish” button.
  10. In a couple of minutes, you will be jumped again to the Play Music’s homepage.

Step #3: Copy the iTunes Tracks to Google Play Music

Now that you have installed and activated the Google Play Music App on your Chromebook, it’s time to copy the tracks from iTunes.

  1. Get head to the device where the iTunes library has been saved. On that device download and install the Google Chrome browser. If you have already installed the browser, skip this step.
  2. Launch the Chrome browser. Now go to the Play music app’s page from here and click on “Add to Chrome”.
  3. Now, a new window will pop-up on your screen. Find and click on the “Add App’ button and wait until it gets installed.
  4. Once the installation process gets completed, a new window will be opened on your screen. It has the detailed info of all the apps installed along with this Play Music App. So, click on the icon of play Music and open it up.
  5. Get to the web interface of your Play Music app. Now click on the menu button located on the upper left corner of the window shown by three lines.
  6. A drop-down menu will appear. From there, select the option of “Upload Music”.
  7. Now you will see the add music options. From the Windows users, you can copy your tracks from this location: Users > [username] > Music > iTunes > iTunes Media > Music. And the Mac users can copy the tracks from this location: Users > [username] > Music > iTunes.
  8. Now drag the whole playlist folder in the add music interface. Sit behind with some popcorn and wait until all the files get uploaded :”)

Step #4: Access the iTunes Library on the Chromebook

Now the thing is that your tracks have been copied from iTunes and configured by the Chromebook. So, you can now access them easily. But still, the question is how? Well, here are the simple steps:

  1. Return to your Chromebook and go to the web interface of the Google Play Music App.
  2. Now click on the option of “Music library”. It is located in the left menu and is shown by a musical note kind of icon.
  3. Now you will see the listing of all the songs that you uploaded from iTunes to the Play Music account. Just click on the “Play” located beside the track and enjoy!
